Groundwater protection against anthropogenic sources, including the exploitation and use of groundwater release wastes into soil environment, changes in land cover, process recharge is paramount importance for protecting human health by securing clean drinking water production. The identification a contamination risk zone has been found to be necessary useful approach managing this valuable resources. In present study, improved DRASTIC index model with optimized AHP weights technique applied assessment vulnerability Upper-Middle Pleistocene aquifer Ho Chi Minh City. dataset DRATIC component parameters calculated from data experts' evaluation characteristics study area, demonstrates very clearly area. results GIS AHP- have showed three levels: low 60,98%, medium high zones account 25,64% 13,38% total respectively. According level vulnerable zoning, highly area one that exposed aquifers or shallow roofs, significant (added directly rains runoff surface flows associated contaminants flows), coverage rates, extensive mining activities constitute high-risk vulnerability. This result suggests GIS-based tool assist policymakers formulating solutions sensible resources, as well identify regions where limited.
